Sauces and Condiments that sabotage your Diet

Are you wondering why you’re not losing weight even though you are not eating a lot? You may want to check if you are a sauce or condiment lover. They may seem to be innocent addition to perk up your food but they can sabotage your hard work to stay fit and healthy. Most of these sauces and condiments have little or no nutritional value at all. They are full of fat, sugar, salt, and calories. In a typical day, you may add on a lot of calories without being aware of it.

Here are Some Sauces and Condiments that can destroy your diet; try to avoid them:

Mayonnaise
This is a fluffy mass of fat and calories. It contains oil, vinegar, and eggs. In just one serving, it already contains 100 calories. In the 10 grams of one serving is pure fat. You may just eat a small sandwich but if it’s full of mayonnaise, this may creep into your diet even without realizing it. A sandwich can survive without mayonnaise. Just put a flavored meat and fresh vegetables in your sandwich and your good.

Salad Dressings
You may think you’re eating healthy because of the salad but if it’s full of salad dressing, it’s useless. For every two tablespoons of salad dressings, it contains 150 calories. Or when you order Buffalo wings, this comes with a ranch sauce similar to the salad dressing. The more you dip because the chicken wings are spicy, the more calorie intake you’ll make. 600 calories can easily be taken in the dipping sauce alone. Try to make your own salad dressing by mixing balsamic vinegar, pepper, and ground basil leaves. This is a healthy substitute and it tastes good too.

Ketchup and Barbecue Sauce
These condiments are the favorites of all. You add them on you burger, dip for fries, dip for meat, etc. But ketchup and barbeque sauce are mostly made out of sugar. Its main ingredient is high fructose corn syrup which is very fattening. You’re just used to dipping with ketchup and barbecue sauce but you can go on without them.

Jam, Jelly and Butter
These three will surely add up to the taste of your food but be careful. Jam and jelly are packed with too much sugar no matter it says it’s made of organic fruits. And butter contains saturated fat and can give you high cholesterol too. Keep away from these seriously because it really sabotages your diet.

Sour Cream
You may want to avoid this when you eat your Mexican food because it’s contains a lot of calories too.

Teriyaki Sauce
Don’t add any teriyaki sauce on your Asian food because it’s fattening as well.
